Baccano! Wiki

Re: Wanted Pages

The entries on the Wanted Pages list are automatically generated, whenever someone creates a link to a page that doesn't exist, so yeah, the only way to remove items on the list is to redirect the links to existing pages or make new pages. I don't think there's much we can do about links that don't need to have pages (links on template and user talk pages and etc.)

Re: Admin Candidacy

I've been impressed by your contributions to the wiki for a while and I've promoted you to admin and bureaucrat--as of the time I'm writing this, the admin list still hasn't updated, and from what I've seen it's typical for changes like this on the wiki to take a little time.

You can look through the help pages of the Admin's How to Guide and Admin's Dashboard to help you get started.

Is there a way to edit page titles? There is a typo in the page title for part 2 of '1931: The Grand Punk Railroad [Local Chapter]'. (Business is spelled 'Buisness'). I've linked it down below in case the feature is admin-only or something, because I can't seem to find a way to change it.

Thank you! (Hopefully I said this in the right place!)

Hey, I have a small question. Locations and times are always bolded on wiki pages here, right?

Or is there some condition when they are?  Whenthemaskscry-reflection (talk) 04:17, June 19, 2016 (UTC)

Sub-tabs within tabs

I use Firefox browser and when I right-click it access Qualaroo which details CSS. With my "can it be done?" curiosity I have tried to style <tabber> into PortableInfobox. With so many CSS, I have a mixture of success and unresolved.

  • Got the tabber to center
  • Removed borders and padding so the images are full-width
  • Changed font color on tabber headers

  • Could not find the correct CSS to increase the height of the tabber headers. My attempts just distorted the layout with unwanted padding

The CSS I changed. Some will be duplicate as I tried to remove borders and padding

.tabberlive .tabbertab { padding:0; border:0; }
ul.tabbernav { font: bold 15px Verdana, sans-serif; color: #3a3a3a; }
ul.tabbernav li.tabberactive a:link { background: #c9a79a; border: 0; color: #000; font-weight: bold; }
ul.tabbernav li a:link { background: #d3c3b7; border: 0; color: #3a3a3a; font-weight: lighter; }
.pi-navigation { background:#d3c3b7; text-align:center; padding:0; }
PortableInfobox nesting tabbers (CSS).png

.tabberlive .tabbertab
The box the tabber sits in which removes unwanted borders and padding
Default tabber styling of font color and size
ul.tabbernav li.tabberactive a:link
The active tab which changes current styling
ul.tabbernav li a:link
Inactive tab which changes current styling
<data> is also used for Classification, etc. So the tabber can be centered whilst Classification remains aligned left, this is a separate location for "tabber" and needs changing in the infobox

<navigation> {{{tabber}}} </navigation>

Sub-tabs within tabs (update)

I notice that the tabber still has borders. Something must be corrupting MediaWiki:Wikia.css. Perhaps the narrative above needs boxing, change to this?

/* Tabbing customization test, with info courtesy of TableWiz */

On Friday, I tried to help another wiki with MediaWiki:Wikia.css. It did not update immediately. So I thought Fandom servers were slow and we should wait overnight. My laptop has had a Windows 10 update and refresh my browser and still the tabber is not working.

To stop changing the tabber styling on everything on my wiki, I paired the MediaWiki:Wikia.css to the template. If you want to try, add .portable-infobox to the front of each line in MediaWiki:Wikia.css

.portable-infobox .tabberlive .tabbertab { padding:0; border:0; }
.portable-infobox ul.tabbernav { font: bold 15px Verdana, sans-serif; color: #3a3a3a; }
.portable-infobox ul.tabbernav .tabberactive a:link { background: #c9a79a; border: 0; color: #000; font-weight: bold; }
.portable-infobox ul.tabbernav li a:link { background: #d3c3b7; border: 0; color: #3a3a3a; font-weight: lighter; }
.portable-infobox .pi-navigation { background:#d3c3b7; text-align:center; padding:0; }

Re: Wiki homepage - 'Rail Chaser'

Honestly I'm not sure about the exact meaning behind that header either haha. I was also under the impression it was a joke about all the work that needed to be done on the wiki. If only we knew where Ladyshift went.

Considering the rest of the homepage... I've been thinking the Links section could be updated, since the Fenali and Livejournal sites have been pretty dead, and a Twitter feed/News section would be a neat addition...

Farewellfire (talk) 02:17, January 28, 2017 (UTC)

Re: Wiki homepage updates

Yeah, I was considering the links be replaced with official sites / resources like Yen Press and Dengeki.

The Quote and Twitter sections look good! And I like the idea of using Q for dialogue. I think the Quote section is a nice addition to the front page, shows off a little direct insight into the series for visitors.

I am a really big fan of your work on all the Narita wikis, especially Baccano. I have been interested in naritaverse for a long time now (Have watched Durarara & Baccano animes and also read some baccano light novels) currently trying to get into Vamp, it seems like an interesting series. I have several questions I want to ask you but before that let me tell you that I come from a character indexing wiki and I am the main contributor for Baccano, do you think these profiles are accurate? Ladd RussoRonny Schiatto-BANLK- (talk) 08:05, August 19, 2017 (UTC)

Animanga wikia

Yo, just letting you know I replied to your comment on the Animanga wikia. Disregard if you saw and read it already. Notifications have been screwy for a long time now. Munchvtec (talk) 23:13, October 5, 2017 (UTC)

Re: Homepage Header Quote

I also tend to be of the opinion that official translations trump fan translations in most instances, especially if we want to look more "professional". The official translation of that particular line is also the more direct translation (「君達が偶然だの奇跡だのと錯覚していたその裏では、常になんらかの計算が働いていたということだよ」, if you want to refer to it). If snappiness is what we're going for, the fan translation does sound better. I think the matter of keeping the fan translation of that line boils down to whether you personally think it's an accurate representation of the original text, considering, in the end, that there's really no "true" single translation of anything.

I'm not caught up with the official English releases, so I don't really have any better alternatives to recommend. I would go with this option if you do have other quotes in mind, though. --Farewellfire (talk) 23:19, May 29, 2018 (UTC)

Re: Lamia Musing

I think it'd be "neater", from an outsider's point of view at least, to put all of Huey's factions on one page with subsections devoted to each, maybe? There's bits of information overlapping among all the groups that might be easier for readers to reference if they're all on the same page, and separating Rhythm and Time based on how much they're covered instead of how they relate to each other and the rest of the factions might be confusing at a glance. At least, that's how I'd approach it. --Farewellfire (talk) 00:18, June 9, 2018 (UTC)

Interested in bring Baccano to the Villains wiki

Hey Revriley,

I was wondering since you seem very involved in making Baccano more well known through your great work on this wiki whether you'd consider making a Baccano subsection on the Villains wiki.

I don't know if you've been on the Willains wiki but anime, LN, manga, movies everything post villanous characters up there and sometimes make subsections to highlight their source material.

A few characters are already up there Claire, Huey, Ladd but I don't think many - if any - of the light novel characters are up there. If you're interested it might be a good way of getting more people to look into the Baccano who haven't already heard of it.

Kind regards,

Hey, that's fine. I don't have any fixed wiki, I just travel around and edit a bit of everything usually depending on what I'm reading/watching, though I do have some favourites.

That makes sense about the Villains wiki, it's always crazy busy and with that many people I suppose it's no wonder it gets in a mess (by sub category I probably meant it's own section, on VW if a there are twenty characters input from a source e.g. anime then the admins will let you create a section of your own for the anime). If you don't like the GP edits you can just get rid of them no offence taken.

P.S. Bravo on the wiki it looks great, so neat and full of info. I go to a lot of wikis but you've kept this one really nice :)

Banana Fish Affiliation

Hi there, would you like to affiliate with the Banana Fish wiki? Here is the wordmark:

Banana Fish Wiki-wordmark.png

S3r0-Ph1i (talk) 22:54, October 26, 2018 (UTC)

Sure that makes perfect sense to affiliate with other Naritaverse wikis, pleased the subject of affiliations has been opened and support these unions. If I may suggest, and why I approached the Baccano! Wiki is to also arrange affiliations between similarly themed series hence the suggestion for Banana Fish here.

Excellent manoeuvre suggesting Durarara!! Both for sharing the same author and the gang related themes that make these affiliations appropriate. Good thinking about the wikitext Forums, too. It’s a similar scenario for the Banana Fish Discussions, even if people are not commenting, right now it’s more about showing that the respective medium was taken part in. Forums, Discussions are available may as well embrace them. That way, say in my case I can look back and see that at least I had the commitment to lay a foundation of sorts for others to take part in. It’s that these features were exercised that counts, and we cannot be faulted for trying.

Not only is it good that you are considering the affiliations between the Naritaverse wikis, I must also thank you for bearing in mind the affiliation with Banana Fish. You have hit the bullseye with my reason for the interest here: some wikis affiliate with anyone and everyone, which is certainly fine. In this case my interest in Baccano! Specifically is I’m after more specialised affiliations between similar series. I think it would be an excellent thought to affiliate by similarities in the content of a series. Suitable mecha anime could affiliate together, sports anime as well, let’s do the same for our shared genres. If people like one series in our affiliates box, they’d like all the others too so we can share the greatness around for newcomers. It's also nice social cohesion supporting and showing our best friends to everyone, too!

So glad you asked why you should affiliate with Banana Fish, you are hereby invited to view the episodes of the anime currently airing (Amazon Prime streams it, Episode 17 airs November 1st). Banana Fish, Baccano! Both deal with serious themes, and overlap in that they have something central to the story (this point will make sense once it’s watched I’ll spare you a spoiler). You cannot predict anything with the plots, they both have outstanding people in them, and of course your mentioned points namely the setting in NYC, and similar scenarios such as gang turf wars, mafia violence and corruption. Chiefly as well, both series have stood the test of time; indeed have a timeless vibe about them which is quite rare. They are both fortunate in that they have had amazing anime adaptions because that doesn't always happen.

Why thank you for noting my endeavours, yes I have been working quite hard as a self appointed affiliation arranger of sorts. Though you’ve noted quite a few there’s a great deal of thought put into to each one, I’m pleased I try, identifying which series links best with which. They’re all meaningful affiliations and it’s helpful to link the sites, share our series and invite other people to get involved, isn’t it great?

But of course, I’ll await at your behest until you are in an ideal position from your point of view. Should I invite myself into the discussion on Durarara!! ? Love these series anyway so do support their affiliation, and would like to support the suggestion for expansion to encompass similarly themed content such as Banana Fish. I also know someone there and want to say hi haha, and add the suggestion that if the affiliations can pool our contributors, all the better for everyone and our related series.

S3r0-Ph1i (talk) 19:56, October 27, 2018 (UTC)

Hi there Rev, now that the Naritaverse wikis have all affiliated, after our discussion perhaps now would be prudent to revisit affiliating with Banana Fish, the word mark has been updated

Affiliations Section

Hey there,

If it helps should I add an affiliates section in the same manner as Durarara!! Has done? The bulletbox template is a good idea, whichever works best. I'd add the currently finalised wordmarks of Durarara!! Vamp! And Etsusa Bridge for the site.

So I finished reading all the volumes of Vamp and I have to say it is really damn good, Watt is easily the best boi of this series lol. Anyway I wanted to ask whether you knew any site from where I could read Baccano light novels. -BANLK- (talk) 07:30, January 17, 2019 (UTC)

No worries, I don't have any problem with buying the Baccano novels, I am interested in reading Ronny's backstory, can you name the volume where Ronny stated he will destroy the earth? I might purchase that volume first. -BANLK- (talk) 06:20, January 20, 2019 (UTC)

Hi Rev, I got volume 1 to 21 with me, guess I have a lot of reading to do lol. Also did Vamp get cancelled or something? -BANLK- (talk) 07:40, April 10, 2019 (UTC)

Re: Thanks for re-adding Sylvie's categories!

Ah, I see. I'm only on volume 6, and up till this point, they made it seem like everyone on board the Advena Avis was an alchemist. Sorry 'bout that.

Ah, by the way, the page for the Advena Avis also has no categories at this point. Dunno if it's that same mistake or if that page just has no categories in general.

Dj Killah Keemstar (talk) 09:01, June 12, 2019 (UTC)

Re: Advena Avis Category

I see. Well, I suppose for such a long running series, a few retcons are innevitable. I don't mind it that much.

Well, I try to avoid pages that about things I haven't encountered yet, or things that seem like they'll have some plot significance later on. It's true that I'm a bit bad with self-spoiling myself on things, happened to me with Fate/Stay Night too. Just can't stay away from those wikis, heh. Though, in my experience, getting spoiled on a small number of things just adds to the hype of things. Like, you know where you end up, so you notice a bunch of foreshadowing or something like that. That being said, I'm not trying to get spoiled.

I'll try to help around however I can, since I know how it is to have nobody ever editing aside from yourself (sighhhh). Although, to be honest, this wiki is already pretty well done, at least from what I've seen, so I don't really know what I can help with.

Also, I'll keep that in mind for when I get to volume 14 sometime in the next century.

Dj Killah Keemstar (talk) 09:15, June 13, 2019 (UTC)

Re: Re: Re: Advena Avis Category/Misc

Jeez, this title is getting redundant by now...

Well, to be fair, most of the wikis I regularly edit are for relatively obscure series, so I end up being the only one to edit which leads to the wiki being pretty lacking (I do my best TwT). So, in comparison, this wiki is pretty well done. But I will check out the Community page and see if I can do anything.

Yeah, I get that, when you actually notice those little references, it feels extremely rewarding, especially for series that take place in a larger connected universe, like Baccano! is.

Wiki Manager

Hey there.

My name is Unai, and I'm an Anime Wiki Manager. Our team helps wikis across the platform, and I've been assigned to this community. I'm here to provide assist in site management, tools, promotion, counter-vandalism, etc.; as well as serving as a liasion between Staff and the community.

If you need anything, let me know =) Unai01 20:30, March 31, 2020 (UTC)

RE: Wiki Manager: Welcome

Hey Revriley,

Thanks for the welcome! I saw your message on the Fandom Developers Discord server, how went last night's flight? Baccano indeed qualified. To be honest, I don't know the exact criteria, but Baccano Wiki has ~50k monthly views. If I recall correctly, we picked the top 1000 anime wikis (unrelated to WAM). I've checked the API endpoints and I can confirm Baccano's vertical is Anime.

My friends have recommended me Baccano in the past, but it's still on my watching list, so let's say I've heard of it. Unai01 18:37, April 1, 2020 (UTC)

RE: Wiki Manager: Easy Come, Easy Go

Hey there,

Thank you for your kind words. Indeed, I'm no longer a Wiki Manager at Fandom and I have moved on. I edited on this platform for nealy a decade and I assumed it was time to move to a new chapter. I'm focusing on my studies and other personal stuff. However, this is not really a "farewell". I don't know if I'll come back at some point, but I will take a break for now.

You can remove the WM template. You may get a new WM at some point, but I don't think it will happen soon.

As for Baccano, my friends keep recommending me to watch it, so I might give it a chance one of these days. I'll let you know. =)

Wiki Manager Introduction

Hey there! My name’s Tyler, a Wiki Manager with the anime vertical. I noticed that you had a wiki manager previously and wanted to let you know that I am taking over as your wiki manager. If you need anything, just send me a message!
Feel free to reach out with any reports regarding UCP. There are a bunch of bugs to fix and contacting me about them will help us get them fixed faster.

NoGround (talk) 23:27, 18 October 2020 (UTC)

RE; New Wiki Manager: Welcome

Thanks Rev for the in-depth update! Regarding the topics of your report, I'll go over them now.

  • S:C not showing WM

Fixed this. It has been moved to a wiki configuration page and needs to be manually done. I just did it before writing this post.

  • Incorrect images on thumbnails in categories

I will check and see if there is a bug report on this and ticket it if there is not.

  • OGG files not working while in embedded content

I recently found that OGG files do not work in infoboxes and had a ticket made, but this issue is persisting in all collapsed-by-default content makes this issue more specific and will help us pinpoint the bug, thanks a lot!

Regarding my familiarity with Baccano!, I actually started reading the books a while ago but had to pause a bit due to other things happening. I did watch a good chunk of the show as well so I got some knowledge under my belt. And yeah, I'm super happy Link Suggest is back as well. =)

Elmer´s edit

To be honest, it´s just a speculation, so I agree that you don´t find it importat/reliable. It´s probably a coincidence that Elmer has the C. like Elmer C. Stone, but maybe Narita knows of him and just never said it, but this is also a speculation

The Wiki’s Background

Hi, I’m HumbleX and I’m informing you that I changed the background image display from Header to Full-screen from this wiki’s Theme Designer. I've also changed the background style to hopefully best fit the wiki's background. Furthermore, I may have changed the “Community header color” (The color of the Top Navigator text) to make the text clearer/visible and to help prevent it from blending into the wiki background’s image. These were all done for both the Light and Dark theme sections for the wiki.

In case you're unhappy with any of the changes that I’ve made, you can revert them from the Theme Designer’s History. The History section is located at the bottom of the Theme Designer bar that's on the left side of the Theme Designer page. To find it, scroll the bar down and click on the History box. Then click on the previous link or the one that's “below” the highlighted link that says “ACTIVE” to revert the changes that I made.

On the off chance that you don’t know how to access your Wiki’s Theme Design page. Here are the three ways to access it.

1. simply remove the ##### and add the wiki's domain name.

2. From the vertical 3-dotted line located on the top right side where you can access the drop bar menu with the links “Upload New File”, “Admin Dashboard”, etc. At the bottom of the menu bar is the link to your wiki’s Theme Designer.

3. You can also access your wiki’s Theme Designer from the Admin Dashboard. It's the first link on the left-most side.

I also highly suggest that you experiment with your wiki's Theme Designer to better familiarize yourself with it. Just in case there are any changes that you'd like to make yourself in the future on this wiki or another wiki that you're an admin on.

HumbleX (talk) 19:44, 24 August 2021 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for your prompt response and kind words. As a matter of fact, I did not remove it whatsoever. What happened was the new dark mode image that you uploaded replaced the old one. It automatically does that when you upload a new image to either the light or dark themed backgrounds.
