Next chapter - Chapter 8: The Immortal Researcher Has No Restraint

Synopsis[edit | edit source]

In 2003, Dalton Strauss reflects on his immortality. He had sought immortality with nine of his students not out of fear of death, but for the sake of his research. However, Dalton’s students began to devour each other out of paranoia, greed, and curiosity, until only two of them, Renee Paramedes Branvillier and Archangelo, were left. Archangelo loved Renee and had protected her from the other students, and Dalton had given him his right hand so he would pose no threat. Dalton proceeds to ruminate over his motivations for teaching Maiza Avaro how to achieve immortality and concludes it was an experiment.
